Riyad Mahrez scored his third Manchester City goal in two games this evening to put the Carabao Cup third round tie against Oxford United to bed.
City were not at their best tonight but didn’t have to be, controlling the game and looking comfortable for the most part.
Oxford’s only real spell of pressure saw them send a series of crosses and long throws into the City box, and the last of them saw City break with Phil Foden cutting apart the Oxford defence with a delicious pass.
Foden, who was also instrumental in Gabriel Jesus’ opening goal, played the ball to Riyad Mahrez, who had been misfiring all night before finding the net.
