Gabriel Jesus brought to an end a goal drought that has lasted longer than a month, breaking the deadlock in tonight’s Carabao Cup third round tie between Manchester City and Oxford United.
The League One strugglers had defended well for over half an hour before a lovely long pass by Phil Foden found Brahim Diaz, who saw his shot deflected into the path of Jesus, who made no mistake with his headed effort.
It was a move featuring two of Manchester City’s great young hopes, Foden and Brahim, and finished off by another young player Jesus, who has been struggling for form of late. The goal may do his confidence the world of good after he failed to find the net in any of his previous four appearances.
