Manchester City begin their defence of the Carabao Cup (League/EFL Cup) tonight with the lowest rank opposition the Blues have faced in a number of years, Oxford United.
Oxford sit second-from-bottom of League One, the third tier of English football, with just 5 points from 9 games, and the visit of Premier League champions to the Kassam Stadium may be seen as an inconvenience or a big opportunity, depending on how manager Karl Robinson views this fixture.
For Pep Guardiola, the Carabao Cup is the fourth priority, but the same can be said last year and his team went all the way to Wembley, beating Arsenal in the final to lift the trophy.
Roger East is tonight’s referee and here are the starting lineups selected by Guardiola and Robinson:
Oxford United XI: Mitchell, Long, Nelson, Dickie, Garbutt, Hanson, Baptiste, Whyte, Brannagan, Holdest, Obika
Manchester City XI: Muric, Danilo, Kompany (c), Stones, Otamendi, Zinchenko, David Silva, Brahim Diaz, Foden, Mahrez, Jesus
