Manchester City fans may remember Sergio Aguero missing TWO penalties (he scored a hat-trick anyway!) in City’s 5-0 demolition of Steaua in the 2016-17 Champions League play-off.
The man who gave City those penalties, Italian official Daniele Orsato, has been appointed referee for City’s Champions League group stage opener against Lyon this Wednesday.
The Steaua game back in August 2016 is Orsato’s only previous City appointment and a similar result would be welcome as Pep Guardiola’s men look to get off to a bright start in a group they are tipped to win.
It will be the 42-year-old’s first ever appointment in charge of a Lyon game.
