According to the Oxford Mail, it is believed that the game will not be televised in the United Kingdom, although it remains to be seen if international broadcasters will pick it up.
It’s a rare draw for City to go up against anyone below Championship level and even more of a novelty to be playing away. The Kassam Stadium holds 12,500 fans and will be packed for the visit of Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions later this month.
Despite winning the trophy last year, Pep Guardiola described the League Cup as a ‘a lot of wasted energy’, fielding weakened teams and often scraping through the early rounds before strengthening his XI in the latter stages. With that in mind, it’s a safe bet to say that many of City’s fringe and younger players will be given a run-out against Oxford.
