Manchester City quartet receive England call-ups but Phil Foden left to wait

Manchester City quartet John Stones, Kyle Walker, Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling have been called up by Gareth Southgate for England’s upcoming internationals against Spain and Switzerland.

The big question among Blues is whether 18-year-old Phil Foden would receive his first call-up after reports that both he and former City academy player Jadon Sancho would be summoned for the next set of internationals.

However, while both are poised to feature in the coming months or years, Southgate has gone for a more tried and tested group of players for England’s next games in September.

Thee 23-man England squad in full is: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Jack Butland (Stoke City), Dele (Tottenham Hotspur), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Leicester City), Alex McCarthy (Southampton), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), John Stones (Manchester City), James Tarkowski (Burnley), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)
