Kun, Laporte, Mendy or Bernardo? Vote for August’s City Watch Player of the Month!

Manchester City will finish August unbeaten after comfortably dispatching Chelsea in the Community Shield before opening the season with wins over Arsenal and Huddersfield. Last weekend’s draw at Wolves was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect month for Pep Guardiola’s men.

There were some impressive performers this month for the Blues, and we’ve selected four of them for the City Watch Player of the Month award.

Aymeric Laporte – The January arrival from Athletic Bilbao was bedded into the side slowly by Pep Guardiola but now looks like he may be the first of the four established centre-backs in Pep’s thinking. Good performances throughout the month were capped off by his headed equaliser against Wolves on Saturday. Future captain material?

Benjamin Mendy – It has been said that despite City’s lack of activity in the transfer market, Benjamin Mendy is like a new signing after missing most of last season through injury. And he has brought a new dynamic to the team going forward with his electric pace and world class crossing ability. Mendy officially has three assists in three games but has played his part in even more of City’s goals.

Bernardo Silva – The likeable little playmaker has been ever present in Guardiola’s team so far this season and has been in excellent form. An assist against Chelsea and goal against Arsenal only begin to speak of his quality, as he pulls the strings in City’s midfield and is looking like a worthy successor for David Silva.

Sergio Aguero – City’s most iconic goal scorer has started the season on fire, scoring five goals in the four games City played this month, including a hat-trick in the 6-1 drubbing of Huddersfield. In addition to his goals, Sergio looks fitter and more fired up than ever.

Who is your choice? Vote in our Twitter poll and we’ll announce August’s City Watch Player of the Month in a few days!
