FC Porto HAVE been offered Manchester City’s homeless Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan but are not particularly interested in signing him, O Jogo reports.
The 20-year-old, who was denied a work permit to feature for Pep Guardiola’s team this season, needs to head out on loan before Europe’s transfer windows all close at the end of the month.
The story from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo does confirm the report that Porto have had the opportunity to sign Douglas on loan, but their story is slightly differently.
Firstly, rather than Porto approaching City for the player, it is said he has been offered to them on several occasions, much like he was to Benfica. And secondly, despite his potential, Porto believe he has neither the experience or characteristics they want for the position.
In short, a move to Porto looks unlikely for Douglas Luiz. The former Vasco da Gama man will certainly find a new club in the next week or so, with a return to Girona FC in Spain another option, but the chances of a switch to Portuguese giants FC Porto or Benfica – who would only want him if they sold Pizzi – look fairly remote at this stage.
