Manchester City are set to pocket a significant transfer fee for the sale of defender Jason Denayer to Lyon, a deal that will be completed today with the player already in France.
According to reliable Belgian source Het Laatste Nieuws, Manchester City will receive €10million (£9million) from Lyon for Denayer – €6.5million up front and €3.5million in future bonuses. The player himself will earn €2million net per season in wages.
It means City are getting their asking price for the 23-year-old after Galatasaray had been trying to get him on loan or cheap.
In addition to Galatasaray, Celtic and Torino were interested in Denayer, but Lyon’s willingness to pay a big transfer fee has been decisive in them getting the 8-cap Belgium international.
