Ligue 1 side Lyon have won the race to sign Manchester City defender Jason Denayer, with the club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas confirming that a deal has been agreed for the 23-year-old.

Aulas did not elaborate on the structure of the deal, such as if it will be a loan move or permanent, but L’Equipe journalist Bilel Ghazi says the 8-cap Belgian is already in Lyon to finalise his move.

Denayer has been linked with Galatasaray all summer, but their reluctance to meet Manchester City’s terms means their attempts to pressure City have backfired.
Celtic and Torino have also made moves for the versatile defender, but his career looks poised to continue in the French top flight with Lyon.
