Manchester City are showing interest in Dutch-Moroccan midfielder Aschraf El Mahdioui, who plays his club football for AS Trencin in the Slovakian league.
The 22-year-old, a product of the famous Ajax academy, was under contract with Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag until last year before heading to Trencin on a free transfer.
And according to Elf Voetbal, his performances since heading to Slovakia have caught the attention of several big European clubs, including Manchester City and Sevilla, both of whom are following him.
The likelihood is if City were to make a concrete move for the player in future, it would be with a view to loaning him out – perhaps to Dutch partner club NAC Breda – before selling him on for profit, a strategy utilised to good effect by the City Football Group lately.
Defensive-minded midfielder El Mahdioui made 22 appearances for Trencin in the Fortuna Liga last season, scoring 4 goals and contributing 3 assists.
