Manchester City look set to miss out on young striker target Rafael Leao with the 19-year-old and his representatives having concerns over how much game time he would get at the Premier League champions.
First linked with a €25million move to the Etihad in February, the teenager has since been constantly been in the rumour mill.
And when he was one of those to quit Sporting CP in May following an attack on their training ground by thugs, it appeared City would have a chance to grab the Portugual under-21 international for a cut-price fee.
City made progress on a deal for Leao following talks with his camp, but more recently he has been wavering about a move due to his desire to play first-team football. City are well-stocked in the attacking department, meaning Leao would have limited time on the pitch in his first year, or have to go out on loan.
Enter Ligue 1 side Lille, who according to Duncan Castles are now working on a deal to sign the young prodigy. And the player is considering choosing Christophe Galtier’s side over the chance to work under Pep Guardiola because they would offer him more game time.

Leao has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund recently, but it appears his immediate future after splitting from Sporting may be in France with Lille.
