Pep Guardiola has described Bernardo Silva’s performance in Manchester City’s Community Shield win over Chelsea at Wembley as a ‘masterpiece’.
Guardiola went as far as to say that right now, the 23-year-old Portuguese attacker, who was outstanding in his ‘8’ role today, is well above the other City players.
“Right now it’s Bernardo and 10 more, but it’s about what you do over the season,” Guardiola said. “In this moment Bernardo is far above the other guys.
“Today, the performance (of Bernardo) was a masterpiece.”
Bernardo orchestrated much of City’s best play against Chelsea and assisted Aguero’s second goal of the game in what was one of his finest performances yet since arriving from Monaco last summer.
After a year to adapt to English football, it looks like City have another star on their hands and the 2018-19 season promises to be a big one for ‘Bubblegum’ Bernardo Silva.
