Premier League side Tottenham were on the receiving end of a thrashing by the City Football Group’s Girona FC this evening, going down 4-1 to the Catalan club.
As always, results matter little in pre-season but for Manchester City youngster Aleix Garcia, it would have been a great confidence boost after he got on the score sheet.
Aleix, a Spain under-21 international who is spending his second season on loan at Girona, scored the fourth and final goal as Girona came from behind after Lucas Moura gave Tottenham an early lead.
After Portu missed a chance he really should have taken to add to his earlier goal, Aleix Garcia had a shot from the rebound blocked before finding the net with his second attempt.
That was the final goal of the game as Girona picked up a big win over Tottenham heading into their second La Liga season.
Coach Eusebio Sacristán is hoping to add one or two more Manchester City loanees to his squad before Spain’s transfer deadline, with Brahim Diaz and Oleksandr Zinchenko on his wish-list. Zinchenko is highly unlikely to move to the Estadi Montilivi, while Brahim would prefer to be part Pep Guardiola’s first team plans, but the parties are in talks to decide the next step for him.
