Daniel Arzani has already undergone his Manchester City medical ahead of completing his move to the Premier League giants then heading to Celtic on loan, SBS reports.
The 19-year-old had his medical on home soil before flying out to England to complete the formalities of a £280,000 (AU$500,000) transfer from the Blues’ sister club Melbourne City – which looks a snip considering his vast potential.
Iran-born Arzani will join Celtic on loan for two seasons and in a significant development reported by SBS, Celtic will have an option to buy Arzani if the loan spell is a success.
In short, this is a ‘for-profit’ deal for Manchester City, much like Aaron Mooy, who joined from Melbourne on a free transfer before joining Huddersfield for an initial £8million following a successful loan spell.
Though the loan spell will be for two years, both parties will meet at the end of his first season at Celtic to assess how the relationship is going and if he is best off staying there.
Tottenham were one of the clubs to approach Arzani, but he turned down more lucrative offers from elsewhere, also snubbing concrete bids from Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims and 2.Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf.
A big factor in Arzani’s decision to join Celtic via Manchester City was the chance to link up with Australia teammate Tom Rogic at Parkhead. Rogic played a big part in convincing Arzani to join City, which will lead to a stay of at least two-years in Glasgow with Scottish champions Celtic.
