Garcia, 21, made 18 appearances in Spain’s top flight for the Catalan club last season, but often had to be content with substitute appearances.
With a new coach – Eusebio Sacristán – in place and a year’s worth of experience under his belt, which included his first cap for Spain’s under-21s, Aleix will look to become a regular for the team this season.
The former Villarreal midfielder has been involved in Girona’s pre-season plans and with his return now official, said he didn’t hesitate about the decision.
“I’m very happy to return to Girona,” said Aleix. “I didn’t hesitate for a moment. The city is spectacular and the fans have always supported me.”
Signed from Villarreal in 2015, Garcia has already made 9 appearances for the Manchester City first team, 8 of them coming in Pep Guardiola’s first season before the decision was made to loan him to sister club Girona.
