Celtic held further talks with Manchester City last night concerning a potential loan deal for Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani who is expected to join the Premier League champions from sister club Melbourne City.
The Blues appear to have fought off a host of clubs ranging from AS Roma to Bayer Levekusen and will sign the 19-year-old for a small fee thought to be in the region of £280,000.
Scottish champions Celtic are the most likely loan destination for Arzani, a player considered to be Australia’s finest prospect since Harry Kewell, with suggestions that the Iran-born winger could spend as long as two years north of the border.
According to the Herald Scotland, Celtic are very confident of getting a deal over the line, which will happen almost immediately after Arzani’s move to Manchester City is complete.
Arzani was the youngest player at the recent World Cup in Russia, showing glimpses of his enormous potential in cameo appearances off the bench for the Socceroos.
Despite his potential, Arzani is unlikely to ever play for Pep Guardiola’s City side, with the strategy being to loan him out, raise his value, and then sell him for a significant profit, just like Aaron Mooy who City sold for an initial £8million a year after signing him for nothing.
