Manchester City returned to rainy Manchester (and we haven’t said that much this summer!) after their tour of the United States today with concerns over Riyad Mahrez as he was spotted in a protective boot and using crutches.
Mahrez went down in pain in the Bayern Munich penalty box during last night’s friendly, but was able to continue for a while before he went down again and was forced off through injury.
Pep Guardiola admitted after the match that he didn’t know how bad it was, but a picture of the player posted by the Manchester Evening News is sure to worry some with the new Premier League season just around the corner.
The hope will be that the boot and cruthces are just precautionary with the Algerian likely to have scans immediately to determine how bad the injury is.
According to Transfermarkt, Mahrez has one injury on record in recent years, a leg problem that kept him out of action for just 9 days in the 2015/16 season.
