Manchester City are on the verge of signing Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani from sister club Melbourne City, SBS reports.
The 19-year-old has been attracting interest from the likes of Roma, who threatened to hijack City’s move for the Iran-born winger, but he looks set to follow the same path as Aaron Mooy from Melbourne to Manchester.
City will hand over a nominal fee, thought to be in the region of £280,000, and then plan to loan him to either Scottish giants Celtic or Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven, with the Daily Mail suggesting that Celtic is a more likely destination.
Despite his potential, Arzani is unlikely to ever play for Pep Guardiola’s City side, with the strategy being to loan him out, raise his value, and then sell him for a significant profit, just like Mooy who City sold for an initial £8million a year after signing him for nothing.
According to SBS, Arzani is currently in Melbourne and ready to fly to the UK at a moment’s notice to conclude the deal.
