Manchester City and Barcelona are two of the clubs being linked with a big money move for Juventus star Miralem Pjanić, although reports out of Italy tonight suggest it is Chelsea who are pressing most for the Bosnian.
And from the same source as that tidbit, the well-known Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia, comes news of City and Barcelona stepping forward with interest in another Juve midfielder.
The two clubs, both of whom have been shopping for central midfielders this summer, have shown a ‘certain insistence’ for Juventus’ 21-year-old Uruguay international Rodrigo Bentancur in recent hours, Pedulla claims.

Juventus’ stance is as it normally is – they do not want to sell the highly-rated midfielder who they paid an initial €9.5million last year when they signed him from Boca Juniors. However, the Old Lady are always pragmatic and will carefully evaluate any important offers for Bentancur, who made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions last season.
For now, City and Barcelona are at the stage of showing serious interest, but they could follow up with formal offers. And that might make sense with City again briefing the press earlier that they don’t want a high-profile name like Pjanić or Thiago – but could look for a less expensive, lower profile talent to cover in midfield.
#Mcfc insist no high profile alternative to jorginho coming this summer. No pjanic or Thiago. Poss of some cover but nothing major.
