Chelsea are considering a surprise move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart to replace Thibaut Courtois, Mike McGrath of The Sun reports.
Hart, 31, was the shock inclusion on City’s pre-season tour of the United States and he could even feature against Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich with Ederson still on holiday, but the plan is still for him to leave the Etihad Stadium.
And it is reported that Hart’s low price-tag of £5million appeals to Maurizio Sarri, with Chelsea looking to invest heavily in other positions after already capturing Jorginho for £57million.
The likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani are said to be on Chelsea’s transfer wishlist, meaning funds to replace Real Madrid-bound Courtois may be limited.
Hart would also increase Chelsea’s quota of homegrown players, something else that would appeal as they look to stock up on new foreign talent. Chelsea already employ another former City shot-stopper, Willy Caballero, who Hart knows well.
Hart has 12 months remaining on his Manchester City contract and following loan spells to Torino and West Ham, there is an appetite on all sides to secure the England international a permanent deal away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.
