Manchester City’s drawn out pursuit of Napoli midfielder Jorginho looks set to end in disappointment, with the player leaving Naples for London today.
City do have offices in London, but reports from Italy and elsewhere all tend to agree that he will join Chelsea as part of a double deal with Maurizio Sarri.
Like my colleague @armagio tells in @tuttosport today Jorginho preferred City than Chelsea but the meeting of monday between Abramovich and De Laurentiis in Capri changed everything. Chelsea improved the offer including a compensation for Sarri. City is looking for alternatives.

Famed journalist Alfredo Pedulla did suggest in his Corriere dello Sport article today that City are not entirely out of the game yet, but would probably have to raise their offer – and fast.
However, unless something changes quickly, Chelsea will be landing the 26-year-old after everyone – even the player’s own agent – had basically expected him to join Manchester City.
In the end, it seems to have been weeks of wasted effort by Txiki Begiristain, although City will undoubtedly have some solid alternatives in mind – Mateo Kovacic of Real Madrid and Juventus’ Miralem Pjanic are two names doing the rounds.
Here is a video courtesy of CalcioNapoli24 showing Jorginho heading to London today. Could City pull off the deal late in the day, or is Jorginho soon to be a Chelsea man?
