Manchester City and Wolves may have agreed a £16million deal to send Oleksandr Zinchenko to the newly-promoted Premier League side – but that doesn’t mean he is joining them for sure.
Wolves are ready to break their club record for the versatile City youngster with a deal in place, but the Ukraine international has a decision to make before he commits to it.
First of all, he could still remain at City, and according to the well-informed Tim Nash, he wanted to speak to Pep Guardiola yesterday after the players returned for pre-season training.
His intention was to discover if Pep had any first-team plans for him this coming season, with Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph both available as left-back options.
Another dilemma for Oleks is the rival interest of Newcastle United and the prospect of playing for Rafa Benitez. Newcastle also like Zinchenko, although there is no suggestion yet that the Toon have matched Wolves’ offer.
Zinchenko, 21, is still to decide his future, with Newcastle also in the hunt for the Ukraine international. He wanted to talk to City boss Pep Guardiola after training today before making a decision.

Zinchenko must now decide his future, taking into account whatever Pep Guardiola will have told him, with Wolves eagerly waiting for a response.
