Manchester City are poised to miss out on midfield target Jorginho after weeks upon weeks of negotiations that had appeared to be coming to a successful conclusion – with the 26-year-old’s agent even expecting the move to go through.
Napoli stalled the deal, perhaps anticipating the entry of Chelsea into the bidding, with the London club having their own negotiating difficulties with Aurelio De Laurentiis when trying to secure Maurizio Sarri for the Stamford Bridge hot-seat.
And according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia, one of those who had reported that City had an agreement with Napoli for the player, Jorginho is now expected to leave Napoli in a €65million double deal with Sarri.
Di Marzio’s great rival, Alfredo Pedulla, also says the pair are heading to the south of England.

It will leave Pep Guardiola, whose City squad was today bolstered by the club-record signing of Riyad Mahrez, looking for a new midfielder to replace Yaya Touré.
Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic may be the next name on the list with the Mirror stating fresh enquiries have been made. Juventus ace Miralem Pjanic has also been suggested as an alternative for Jorginho.
