Jorginho isn’t the only Napoli star to have been targeted by Manchester City this summer, with CalcioNapoli24 reporting that the Blues approached Lorenzo Insigne about joining Pep Guardiola’s side.
It is claimed that the 27-year-old forward received offers from both City and Atletico Madrid, which made the Italy international ‘waver’.

The arrival of Carlo Ancelotti changed the situation at Napoli though, and he shut down the idea of Insigne leaving. Ancelotti plans to place Insigne at the centre of his Napoli project.
Insigne has responded to the faith shown in him by Ancelotti with enthusiasm and negotiations to extend his contract began quickly, with the player likely to extend his stay at the Stadio San Paolo soon.
It may have been a blessing in disguise for City, who have laboured in their attempts to sign Jorginho – attempting to buy two players from the tough-negotiating Aurelio De Laurentiis would have been even more grueling. City are now focused on Riyad Mahrez, with the expectation being that he will finally join from Leicester soon.
City’s pursuit of Jorginho has been thrown into sudden doubt with the reported entry of Chelsea into the bidding, with the London club trying to hijack City’s deal for the 26-year-old so that they can reunite him with Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
