Manchester City begin pre-season training ahead of Premier League title defence

Pep Guardiola took his first training session of pre-season today as preparations begin for Manchester City’s defence of the Premier League title.

It was primarily a group of young players and those not at the World Cup, with many of City’s big names in Russia or on holiday after their nations were eliminated.

In the early images posted on social media, Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz, Tosin Adarabioyo, Thierry Ambrose, Wolves-linked Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jason Denayer, Cameron Humphreys, Patrick Roberts, Daniel Grimshaw, Aro Muric and Lukas Nmecha were all shown taking part in training today. They wore the new eye-catching training kit, a sign that the 2018-19 season is upon us.

The first pre-season friendly is less than two weeks away with the Blues scheduled to play Borussia Dortmund in the opening game of their tour of the United States.
