More and more reports of Chelsea entering the bidding for Jorginho are surfacing, just when it had seemed that the Italy midfielder was finally a Manchester City player.
Most stories center around Chelsea trying to arrange a double deal for Jorginho and exiled Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri, who has been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti but is still bound to a contract – similar to Antonio Conte’s situation at Stamford Bridge.
And according to Naples-based Radio CRC, talks between City and Napoli are currently ‘frozen’. The official reason is a gap of €2million to €2.25million, but the unofficial reason is the interest of Chelsea in Jorginho, which gives the Serie A club the chance to increase their profit on the 26-year-old.
Jorginho is currently at his mother’s house in Brazil waiting for updates on his future, which is suddenly less clear. Napoli have yet to summon him because of no progress in negotiations.
The player has an agreement with City and his agent returned to London on Friday night after two weeks in Turkey, but the deal is still not closed. This has presented Chelsea with the chance to sign both Sarri and Jorginho with the suggestion being they will pay €60million to get both – €10million more than the base fee City have offered for Jorginho.
