Thierry Ambrose is unlikely to join Bordeaux after the Ligue 1 side failed to offer Manchester City any financial guarantees, Dutch newspaper BN DeStem reports.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Gus Poyet’s side, but with a deal for star winger Malcom to join Inter progressing slowly, they have not been able to guarantee City the funds to buy Ambrose.
So as things stand, Thierry will not be joining Bordeaux, and his management are drawing up a new plan for him. Another Ligue 1 side or a club in England’s Championship are the most obvious options for the talented forward, who spent last season on loan at NAC Breda.
One possibility is Patrick Vieira’s Nice, who are reportedly considering Ambrose as a potential replacement for Alassane Pléa, who is subject to big-money offers from the Premier League.
Anderlecht are also interested in Ambrose, although a move to Belgium is unlikely to be his first choice.
