Girona FC want to use their partnership with Manchester City to sign Spanish prodigy Brahim Diaz on loan for the new season, Catalan newspaper SPORT reports.

It is the second year running that Girona have tried to recruit the young attacker, who is represented by Pere Guardiola, brother of Pep and part-owner of Girona with the City Football Group.
City felt it was too soon last year and decided to leave Brahim in the Elite Development Squad, for whom he made 13 Premier League 2 appearances, while also training with the first-team squad and getting some game time.
The Andalusian managed 10 appearances in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side in the double-winning 2017-18 campaign, with his five in the league earning him a Premier League winners’ medal.
The 18-year-old has received several offers from La Liga clubs to gain experience on loan, according to SPORT, and Girona is one of them. The CFG club took the likes of Pablo Maffeo, Aleix Garcia and Douglas Luiz on loan last season and are looking to restock their squad with new players.
And it is claimed that Pep Guardiola ‘would be happy’ to let Brahim go out on loan to a top European league such as Spain’s top-flight, in order to gain experience and further develop as a player.
Girona’s close relationship with Manchester City may give them the edge over La Liga rivals and Brahim, one of City’s brightest young talents, could therefore spend next season playing his football at the Estadi Montilivi.
