The City Football Group are looking to keep the rising star of Australian football, Daniel Arzani, in the family by having Manchester City sign him from Melbourne City, The Sunday Times in Australia reports.
Arzani, 19, is considered the most exciting Australian player to have emerged in years and is ready to quit the A-League, with Melbourne City expected to sell him for a league record $2.3million (€1.5million) fee.
And the CFG want to propose an Aaron Mooy style deal to the Iran-born attacking midfielder, which would see him join Manchester City then join another European club, quite possibly sister club NAC Breda in Holland, on loan.
The CFG face intense competition to keep Arzani in the group however, with a host of clubs interested and ready to make offers. The most prolific is Juventus, although their strategy would more than likely be like City’s, to loan him out and develop.
The likes of Bayer Levekusen, Mainz, Benfica, Slavia Prague, PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar, PEC Zwolle are all keen and could offer Arzani a quicker pathway into their first teams.
Arzani is the youngest player at the ongoing World Cup in Russia and has just one year remaining on his Melbourne City deal.
