NAC Breda are set to announce the loan signing of Serbia under-21 international Luka Ilić from Manchester City after the midfielder arrived in Breda and passed a medical today.
Ilić, 18, joined City in a €5.5million double deal with his younger brother Ivan last summer from Red Star Belgrade, and the two were immediately loaned back for the 2017-18 season to further develop.
City Watch understands Ivan will remain in Belgrade for at least one more year and could be loaned to NAC in future. His older brother Luka will now experience football outside of his homeland for the first time by joining City’s Dutch partner club on loan for the coming season.
An announcement is expected soon but unlikely today after the player underwent medical tests and other formalities earlier.
The Eredivisie side also expect to re-sign Paolo Fernandes for a second season, while they would also like to take USA international Erik Palmer-Brown on loan from the Etihad.
Using City’s extensive database of players, NAC are also looking to sign Blues academy graduate Greg Leigh, after his contract with Bury ended, as a replacement for Angeliño, who has joined PSV Eindhoven from City in a deal worth over €5million.
