Manchester City hope to clinch the signing of Jorginho from Napoli this week after protracted negotiations with the Italian club. Those words have been said in several ways before, but the feeling from the press in Italy is that these are the decisive days.
And the same can be said for the player’s own agent, Joao Santos, who spoke to the microphones of TMW this morning and suggested that this will be the week in which everything will be known.
“Today, the certainty is that Manchester City want Jorginho and the boy wants to go there,” the candid agent said.
“It will be a crucial week. Jorginho must know his future soon.”
City are known to have alternatives in mind, but with Jorginho being Pep Guardiola’s number one target and Napoli willing to sell – on the right terms – Txiki Begiristain has persisted through grueling negotiations with his Naples counterpart Cristiano Giuntoli, who is working under the orders of the notoriously tough-negotiating Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Reports over the weekend said the clubs have an agreement outlined, but the complexity of the bonuses are the final thing to be negotiated. It has also been reported by one local source that De Laurentiis is cheekily trying to add a friendly – hosted in Naples of course – to the deal.
