Fenerbahce are considering a move for Manchester City defender Pablo Marí if they fail to sign Mattia Caldara from Juventus, Star Gazetesi reports.
The two players have plenty in common, both being 24-year-old defenders who belong to big clubs but found themselves sent out on loan by their parent sides last season.
Caldara, who has a market value of €25million, is Fenerbahce’s main target but if Juventus do not respond positively to the Turks, they will turn their attention to City-owned Marí.
Marí would be a cheaper investment and Star Gazetesi says Fenerbahce would offer a €1million fee to sign him on loan.
The former Gimnàstic defender, who impressed last season on loan at NAC Breda, reportedly has only one year left on his contract, and City must now decide what to do with him.
Marí is not the only player said to be under consideration by Fenerbahce’s new sporting director, Damien Comolli, formerly of Liverpool and Tottenham, with young winger Bersant Celina also on his radar.
