Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz has agreed a five-year contract with Napoli worth €2.5million per season, and his arrival is directly linked to Jorginho’s departure, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
Speaking on the Calciomercato L’originale program on Sky Italia, Di Marzio explained that the Naples club have a total agreement with Ruiz, 22, which is relevant to Manchester City’s pursuit of Jorginho.
Although Napoli could sign more than one midfielder, Ruiz is seen as a direct replacement for Jorginho, and Di Marzio reports that as soon as Jorginho’s move to City is formalised, Napoli will trigger Ruiz’s €30million release clause.
Di Marzio offered no real update on how close City and Napoli are to an agreement, but two other Italian journalists tonight believe negotiations are at an advanced stage.
