Manchester City are expecting to clinch the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City imminently, but the possible inclusion of a City youngster in the deal is holding it up, according to Martin Blackburn of The Sun.
City are waiting for the green light from Leicester to finalise Mahrez’s arrival, but Blackburn reports that winger Patrick Roberts’ expected move in the opposite direction is holding up the deal.
It isn’t clarified why this is, for example if Roberts is assessing his options or something else, but it appears that the two deals are interlinked and may not be done separately as recently suggested.
Hafid Derradji, a famous journalist/commentator for beIN SPORTS, tweeted at the weekend that Mahrez to City ‘has become a matter of time with everything agreed.’
If that is the case, then it may well be that only sorting Patrick Roberts’ switch to the King Power Stadium is preventing the Algerian’s arrival from being made official.
