Like the rest of us, Jorginho is currently waiting for the outcome of negotiations between Manchester City and Napoli. The 26-year-old is hoping his future is at the Etihad Stadium, and while negotiations appear to be drawing to a successful conclusion, nothing is done yet.
Quizzed on the topic, the player’s agent, Joao Santos, said today that he and Jorginho are standby mode.
“The two clubs are talking. Jorginho is in Brazil and waiting to find out what his future will be,” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “We have a verbal agreement with Manchester City, we are waiting for Napoli and the English to find an agreement.
“With a club like City, the names of the players they’re interested in always leak, but if the clubs can’t reach an agreement, there’s no point moving forward.
“Everything is in the hands of Aurelio De Laurentiis and Manchester City’s president. I can’t give you a date for when the talks will be complete.
“The only certainty is that Jorginho will play in a blue shirt next year.”
Santos’ last comments suggest his client will either be playing for Napoli or Manchester City next season – although were negotiations to end unsuccessfully and Maurizio Sarri lands at Chelsea, the London club could come knocking at Napoli’s door.
