Di Marzio: Progress made between Manchester City and Napoli towards Jorginho deal

After another round of negotiations on Tuesday, Manchester City have moved closer to landing Pep Guardiola’s number one midfield target, Napoli’s Jorginho.

The esteemed Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia provided an update on his Calciomercato L’originale show this evening, saying progress had been made today.

Discussions are continuing, but the expectation is that after this protracted transfer saga, there will be a happy ending, particularly for the player, who is eager to experience the Premier League.

Another top Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia, says Jorginho is ‘getting closer’ to City.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, former Napoli player Francesco Montervino said Jorginho will be desperate for the move to go through.

“Jorginho will be slaughtering his agent’s phone because he would like the deal to be closed immediately so he can go to one of the most important clubs in the world, with one of the best coaches ready to train him,” said Montervino, who played for Napoli from 2003 until 2009.
