The protracted transfer of Jorginho to Manchester City may have taken a major step forward with news that Napoli are closing in on a replacement for the 26-year-old.
According to Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia, one of Italy’s most well-informed journalists on Serie A transfers, the Naples club have reached an agreement with the entourage of Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, who would directly replace Jorginho.

Lobotka has agreed to join Napoli and it is believed that his release clause at Celta, which is between €40million and €50million, will be negotiated down by Napoli without too many problems. Napoli’s other option is Fabian Ruiz of Real Betis, but Slovakia international Lobotka is ahead of him at this point.
This will further unblock a deal for Jorginho to complete his move to the Etihad Stadium after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed that a transfer was likely to happen.
“I think the deal [Jorginho to City] can be done in the next few days,” the film producer told The Sun. “Everything is possible as we have a good relationship with Manchester City and their people but we must negotiate.
“We are still not in agreement over the price for the player but we’ll be near to the conclusion as they made an effort in the last few days.”
Negotiations between City and Napoli are expected to resume today and after much back-and-forth, we may well see some progress and possibly a done deal quite soon…
