Manchester City are close to completing a club-record deal for Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez with Leicester now prepared to let him go, James Nursery of the Mirror reports.
Mahrez has returned from international duty, during which his Algeria side faced Bernardo Silva’s Portugal, and is now set to secure his dream move to the Etihad Stadium.
It is thought that the two clubs have an agreement in principle in place, but agent demands have been holding the transfer up. However, the Mirror believes there has been a breakthrough there with City finalising agent fees ahead of signing the 27-year-old.
Mahrez, the 2015-16 PFA Player of the Year and 2016 African Footballer of the Year, will add depth and experience to an already formidable attack at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola has wanted an extra attacking figure since last summer when he tried to sign Alexis Sanchez, before making Mahrez his primary target, which led to a proposed deal collapsing in the January 2018 transfer window.
The Leicester wing wizard has been desperate to link up with Pep, who is now on the verge of adding the North African superstar to his ranks.
