Kayode impressed on loan in the Ukraine, scoring 3 goals in 8 appearances, and it was enough for Shakhtar to trigger their option to buy him. No fee has been disclosed.
Shakhtar general director Sergei Palkin told the club’s official website: “Kayode will continue to play for Shakhtar. We redeemed him from Manchester City and he has signed a five-year contract. He proved himself well, Paulo (Fonseca) is pleased with him.”
Signed from Austria Wien last summer for £3.5million, Kayode struggled on loan at Girona but has now found a new home at the Champions League regulars.
