The drawn out Jorginho saga rolls on, but today’s edition of the famous pink newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport suggests progress has been made.
According to their information, Manchester City and Napoli have found the outline of deal that will start at €50million (£43.9million), and are now discussing further bonuses, clauses and the possible inclusion of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Zinchenko’s name came up again last night during Gianluca Di Marzio’s Calciomercato L’originale show on Sky Italia, with the world-famous transfer guru reporting that he was discussed as a possible makeweight in yesterday’s talks.
Pep Guardiola wants a swift resolution and City yesterday gave two alternative names to the press – Mateo Kovačić of Real Madrid and Southampton’s Mario Lemina – perhaps to try and pressure Napoli into agreeing a deal to sell Brazil-born Italy international Jorginho.
Jorginho himself has a personal agreement with City, while his agent is in England and will remain there until Friday, hopeful of a positive conclusion by the end of the week.
City have made it clear that they will not wait much longer, and it is expected that there will be an outcome before the World Cup.
