This follows up on Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, revealing he is in England and awaiting the signal to proceed in closing the deal that would see the 26-year-old join the Premier League champions.
City’s new offer could see Napoli end up with €53million (£46.5million) if all of the bonuses are triggered, a huge fee for a holding midfielder and one that Napoli may not be able to refuse.
Di Marzio backs up what the player’s agent said, saying City have no intention of waiting around and if Napoli continue to stall for any more than a week – possibly even less – the Blues will move on, and have an alternative in mind.
City are pressing Aurelio De Laurentiis for a quick answer and want their main business done as soon as possible. A response and quite possibly an accepted bid could arrive at any time now…
