Manchester City could have a new bargaining chip as they attempt to close a deal for Napoli’s Jorginho, with Italian outlet TMW reporting that Oleksandr Zinchenko is back on the Serie A club’s radar.
Zinchenko came close to joining Napoli a year ago before Maurizio Sarri decided against a deal late in the transfer window. In recent days, the idea of Oleks being included in any deal for Jorginho was ruled out by CalcioNapoli24.
However, a new exclusive report by TMW contradicts that information with claims that it could be back on. Their information, which appears to come from those close to Zinchenko, is that the youngster has been discussed in recent hours as a part of the deal for Jorginho.
Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is fully aware of Zinchenko’s technical skills and tactical flexibility, and crucially, it is claimed that new boss Carlo Ancelotti is convinced by the 21-year-old.
And so the deal for Jorginho now has the potential of not being paid all in cash, but including the value of Oleksandr Zinchenko, who would likely struggle for game time at the Etihad next season with Benjamin Mendy back, and the experienced duo of Fabian Delph and Danilo offering alternate left-back options.
