Leicester City have revived their efforts to sign Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts as part of a £60million deal that will see Riyad Mahrez move in the opposite direction, John Percy of the Telegraph reports.
A similar deal was proposed in January, but Leicester’s valuation of around £90million for Mahrez made City walk away, leaving the player unhappy and leading to him temporarily going on strike.
With the Foxes now asking for a more realistic fee for the Algerian winger, there is an expectation that he will soon get his wish and join Pep Guardiola’s double-winning side.
And Roberts, who City rate at £15million, is expected to join Leicester once negotiations between the clubs for Mahrez are complete, the ever-reliable John Percy reports.
City and Leicester have yet to fully conclude talks, but there has been positive progress and all signs point to a deal being done soon for the 27-year-old former PFA Player of the Year.
Roberts is well-regarded by Pep Guardiola, but the Catalan coach is willing to let the 21-year-old head to the King Power Stadium once the Mahrez deal is over the line.
