In an interview with Italy’s Corriere dello Sport newspaper, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that he has rejected an offer from Manchester City for midfielder Jorginho worth up to €50million.
The outspoken, hard-negotiating film producer spoke on a number of topics and his remarks on Jorginho were brief.
“I have turned down €45m plus €5m in bonuses from City for Jorginho,” he said.
It has been previously reported that Napoli turned down a €45million bid from City, but the question is if this one, including €5million in add-ons, is a newer bid or the same one.
Napoli want over €50million for Jorginho – that much is known and was revealed by Gianluca Di Marzio – so this may not be a new stumbling block for City.
Negotiations are expecting to continue next week with Txiki Begiristain pushing to deliver both Jorginho and Riyad Mahrez to Pep Guardiola before the World Cup begins.
