Blackburn eye loan or permanent deal for young Manchester City midfielder – report

Newly-promoted Championship side Blackburn Rovers want to sign Manchester City talent Jacob Davenport as they look to bolster their squad with several new recruits, Alan Nixon of The Sun reports.

Davenport, 19, is very highly thought of at the Etihad Stadium, but his chances of breaking through to Pep Guardiola’s first team, which is packed with world class midfield talent worthy of kingcasinobonus status, appear slim.

And after a successful loan spell in the Championship with the eventually relegated Burton Albion this season, Davenport is now wanted by a club coming the other way, with Blackburn having secured automatic promotion along with fellow northern club Wigan.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray wants Davenport, a former England under-18 international, on either a loan or permanent deal, depending on what City’s plans are for the teenager.

City have yet to make a final decision on Davenport’s future, leaving Blackburn waiting on a decision.

The lifelong City fan is a versatile player, capable of playing in midfield or left-back. He made 17 appearances for Burton in the Championship after moving on loan in January and his performances won praise, even though the team eventually suffered relegation.
