From Naples: Chelsea’s chances of rivalling Manchester City for Jorginho revealed

Chelsea are in talks with Maurizio Sarri, who has just left his post as head coach of Napoli, about replacing Antonio Conte and that has triggered speculation about which Napoli stars could follow him.

One of the hottest rumours in the Chelsea rumour mill has been that Sarri will rival his friend Pep Guardiola, whose City and Napoli teams had two greatly entertaining games in the Champions League this season, for midfield ace Jorginho.

Jorginho, 26, is Guardiola’s top transfer target for the midfield and has caused him to drop his interest in Shakhtar’s Fred, who is close to joining neighbours Manchester United.

But is there a genuine chance that Chelsea could hijack City’s move for Jorginho? In-the-know Naples-based journalist Raffaele Auriemma spoke to Radio CRC and revealed that Jorginho’s transfer to City is so advanced that Chelsea will not interfere.

Fans of Chelsea will be happier to learn that Sarri plans to ask for a trio of Napoli stars if, as is looking increasingly likely, he takes over at Stamford Bridge.

“If Hamsik left, Napoli like Fabián Ruiz and (Bryan) Cristante. If Sarri signs for Chelsea, he will immediately ask for three players: (Elseid) Hysaj, (Piotr) Zieliński and (Kalidou) Koulibaly.

Jorginho, on the other hand, is in the home stretch with Manchester City.
