Manchester City have been linked with a move for Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri since December, but have made no concrete attempt to sign the 26-year-old.
With news that Pep Guardiola has made Napoli star Jorginho his priority for the holding midfield role, it would seem any interest in Seri is now old news.
However, according to Ed Aarons of The Guardian, who has been providing updates on the highly-rated Ivory Coast international, City remain in contact with his agent. They are joined by other Premier League big dogs Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

This begs the question of why are City talking to representatives of someone with similar characteristics to those of Jorginho, who is clearly now the priority.
The answer is simple – City always have a list of targets for any position they want to strengthen. Seri is likely to be on that list, though not at the top, and should the Jorginho transfer run into any complications – Napoli are demanding a huge fee for their midfield maestro – then Seri will be one of the other names under consideration.
Along with Seri, Julian Weigl of Borussia Dortmund is another of a Jorginho-like profile to have been linked with a switch to the Etihad Stadium. City will hope to get the Jorginho deal over the line, but if not, there will be alternative targets. And one of them looks to be Jean Michaël Seri.
