Representatives of Manchester City have contacted the agent of FC Metz right-back Iván Balliu to explore a potential deal that would see him join partner club Girona FC, Nil Solà of Mundo Deportivo reports.

Balliu is a once-capped Albanian international but was born in Catalonia and was previously in the Girona and Barcelona youth systems before moving from Barcelona B to Arouca in Portugal, and finally French club Metz, where he has played since 2015.
The 26-year-old is also attracting the attention of other Spanish clubs Levante, Eibar and Leganés, but Girona’s interest is curious because Manchester City are taking a direct involvement in proceedings.
City’s representatives met with Balliu’s entourage to ‘better understand the situation’ and although no formal offer has been made yet, the player is attracted by the idea of a return to Girona.
What the story doesn’t quite clarify is exactly which club would be signing him – Girona themselves or Manchester City with a loan move to follow.
Either way, it is another example of how the City Football Group operates, sharing information and working on behalf of numerous clubs within the global network.
