PSV Eindhoven are in pole position to sign young Manchester City left-back Angeliño this summer with the player favouring a return to the Netherlands, BN DeStem reports.
The 21-year-old is coming off an impressive year at NAC Breda which saw him named in both the Voetbal International and official Eredivisie Team of the Season for 2017/18.
However, it is reported that City’s technical department have serious doubts about his defensive qualities despite the Spaniard improving in that department this season, and would not be against Angeliño leaving the club in this transfer window.
Angeliño has plenty of options but after enjoying his year at NAC, a move to Dutch champions PSV appeals to him. In January, sporting director Marcel Brands, who has since joined Everton, was quoted between €10million and €15million, a price considered too high for PSV.
With City now apparently willing to sell the former RCD Mallorca youngster, who appears to be behind Benjamin Mendy, Fabian Delph and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the left-back pecking order, PSV will hope to strike a deal for a fee they can afford – or perhaps get him on loan.
